Since the choir was formed in 1971 we have enjoyed singing
in many different places here and around the world. We have
sung with choirs in UK, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Holland,
Spain and France. Many friendships have been established
in these countries among the choir members while visiting
them or when they have visited us.
In 2007 the choir visited
their old friends the Wombwell Male Voice Choir. The two
choirs have been meeting up each year during their long association
for concerts in Danby and Wombwell. The choir has visited
several new venues this year. We enjoyed singing at concerts
in Norton, Amotherby, Malton, Scarborough. During the summer
months the Dalesmen were invited to sing at Mulgrave Castle
near Whitby, home of the Marquis of Normanby. The concert
was for partially sighted people. The concert at the Moors
Centre in Danby went well.
One of the summer highlights was an open-air concert in Faceby.
The weather was perfect
and we sang the Last Night
of the Proms medley as the sun was setting. The audience enjoyed
their food and wine while listening to the concert.
Our Annual
Gala Concert was held in October. Our guest artist was Martin
Neil Dunn a professional tenor from Sheffield. He has performed
in operatic concerts in Germany, Hungary and Slovakia. It
was a good evening and the event enabled the choir to raise £1170
for Lupus UK Charity.
As well as enjoying our singing, we take pride in raising money
for good causes and
over
the years more than £40,000
has been raised for the Candlelighter Trust, the North Yorkshire
Air Ambulance, Martin House Children’s Hospice and many
others. If you would like the choir to sing at a concert please

About
our concerts and performances
We have sung in a variety of places
from cathedrals and churches through to hospitals and theatres.
We have songs and programmes to suit different kinds of occasion
and take great pleasure in their variety. Our programme
of concerts is usually planned well ahead but we are always
happy to include new bookings. The Dalesmen look forward to
doing what they enjoy doing most, that is giving pleasure with
song in the company of like minded people.
Copies of our CD are available
for eight pounds plus postage. If you would like to have a CD
